If you talk to people in Germany about subscriptions, one of the first associations with the subject is often the word "subscription trap". People think of gagging contracts that they get "talked into" and where it is virtually impossible to escape. On the other hand, people are using subscriptions more and more, whereby flexibility and transparency are highly valued in digital business models. Abowire and the Berlin Institute for Innovation Research investigated this phenomena with qualitative interviews and a Germany-representative survey with 524 test subjects.
